Director Biography

Cristian Torres is a multimedia storyteller whose work examines human resilience, cultural identity, and the stories that emerge within the realm of higher education. Based in the Washington, D.C. area and born and raised in Puerto Rico, he integrates cinematography, photography, and narrative structure to create high-impact stories for universities, organizations, and independent projects.

He currently works as a photographer and videographer in the Office of University Branding at George Mason University, where he creates visual narratives that elevate the experiences of students, faculty, and staff, as well as institutional initiatives and their impact on the broader community. His practice spans interviews, portraiture, event coverage, and branded institutional content.

Grounded in rigor, sensitivity, and an ethical commitment to his subjects, Cristian approaches audiovisual work as a bridge to empathy and understanding. Whether documenting stories of achievement and perseverance in academic settings or amplifying veterans’ journeys of recovery and personal transformation, he brings to each project curiosity, respect, and an artistic vision focused on finding meaning.
